\[19-(4+8)\div2-(7-5)=19-12\div2-2=19-6-2=13-2=11\]

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the problem ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know that 4+8=12 and 7-5=2 so we replace them, and we have division so we calculate the it first and the rest is a simple calculate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait im confused can you walk me through it please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We want to calculate this : \[19−(4+8)÷2−(7−5)\] We begin with the brackets : \[19−(\color{red}{4+8})÷2−(\color{red}{7−5)}=19-\color{red}{12}\div2-\color{red}2\] Then we calculate the division : \[19-\color{red}{12\div2}-2=19-6-2=(19-6)-2=13-2=11\]

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Good job.
