\[\large \large -4x^3 + 7x^2 -7x -2\] They told us what x is. (-1) So you can rewrite the equation. This would give you: \[\large \large -4(-1)^3 + 7(-1)^2 -7(-1) -2\] To simplify this, you want to do order of operation. So -1^3 would give you -1. -1^2 would give you -1. So your equation should look like:\[\large \large-4(-1) + 7(-1) -7(-1) -2\] Next you want to do multiplication. -4 * -1 would give you 4. 7 * -1 = -7. -7 * -1 = 7. Your equation should look like: \[\large \large 4 + 7 + 7 -2\] Last step is to add and subtract from left to right. This would give you 16.
