This is the biology section, next time post these question in chemistry. These slight attractions are called van der waals forces.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

17 b is false, the rest rare good. van der waals is the specific and more correct term, you can also broadly call them intermolecular forces. thomaster makes a good point, post this in the chemistry section.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When molecules are close together, a slight attraction can develop between the oppositely charged regions of nearby molecules. Chemists call such intermolecular forces of attraction van der Waals forces. (This also occurs in the phenomenon known as Hydrogen-bonding.) What is the alternate of a slight attraction - it is called the covalent bond. Note that an ionic bond is a type of covalent bond. or http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071008154924AAH8Urc
