How do I find the limit to this function (will give medal to best answer)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 Is it possible to find the limit without getting "undefined" as an answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From what I can tell, the function seems to be in absence of a limit. Is this true?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes the limit doesn't exist at x = 0

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

this is because the left hand limit and the right hand limit aren't equal to one another

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm...

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

as x --> 0 from the left, f(x) --> -infinity as x --> 0 from the right, f(x) --> +infinity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 So how should I word this algebraically?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Never mind, I got it, thanks!
