Which equation below is not an equation that represents the graph shown below y + 2 = -3(x - 1) 3x + y =1 y - 1 = -3(x + 2) y = -3x + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have A

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

why? what is the slope of the line shown?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Answer B and D are the same!

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

@Courage. slope of line shown?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

and y intercept?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok lets see

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

A,B,and C are the same @gregbrutsche1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so there is one equation that is not represented on the graph

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

yes, its the only one that does not have a slop of -3 and a y intercept of 1 three of the equations are y=-3x+1 when you simplify.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

slope*

OpenStudy (dan815):

ABD SAME

OpenStudy (dan815):

uhohhh we got us a fancy display pic

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

woops I meant D not C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (dan815):

courage first tell us what the y intercept is and slope of this line is

OpenStudy (dan815):

remember slope =rise/run and y intercept is where it hits the y axis line

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

y + 2 = -3(x - 1) \(\implies y=-3x +1\) 3x + y =1 \(\implies y= -3x+1\) y - 1 = -3(x + 2) \(\implies y=-3x-4\) y = -3x + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the y intercept is 1 and the slope intercept is 3/-1

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

those are actually iff statements:P

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

NO i just meant that thats what the equation turns into

OpenStudy (dan815):

noob!

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

maybe i jut like the arrow! >:( lol.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

im playing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is @Jhannybean correct

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

I jjust translated your options into slope-intercept form.you figure it out.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Dan hush......lol.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

a teacher once told me the most under/best used symbol is |dw:1372313455700:dw| I use it so much now.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

@Courage look at your y-intercept first. does it match any of your answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

and you would not HAVE to use iff its still a correct statement, but leaves out information (a iff b) implies (a implies b) but not vice versa:)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

which one? @Courage.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

lol @dan815

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Omgoodnesss. You guys are SO CRITICAL lol.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

its not us, its the maths:)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Good job @courage

OpenStudy (dan815):

math is a very cynical language

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
