help please

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Look up the equation of a circle and post it here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Yes. What are h and k?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 and 6?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what do i do know

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

well for starters, replace h and k with 2 and 6 and post what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2-6)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

no you replace x and h, you need to replace h and k

OpenStudy (rmrjr22):

h,k are center points

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

*replaced

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6-2?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Can you look at the equation and put the correct values instead of h and k?

OpenStudy (rmrjr22):

no.... this is ur formula ((x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2)... plug in the center of the circle points to (h,k) respectfully

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooo ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-2)^2+(y-6)^2=r^2

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Yes. Now what is r?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Yes, plug that in instead of r

OpenStudy (rmrjr22):

if you plug that in, what does the finished equation look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-2)^2+(y-6)=4^2

OpenStudy (rmrjr22):

bingo, you have ur answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omg yayyy

OpenStudy (rmrjr22):

u forgot the ^2 on ur second half

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o yea i noticed

OpenStudy (rmrjr22):

just remember if you have a center point it will always = (h,k)... just like any other points beside center points on a circle = (x,y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much @bahrom7893 and @rmrjr22

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

You're very welcome :)
