What type of distribution is described by the following information? Mean=56 Median=58.1 Mode=63 a. left (negatively skewed) b. symmetrical (normal) c. bimodal d. right (positively skewed)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

whats the definition of bimodal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distribution is a continuous probability distribution with two different modes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bimodal distribution is a continuous probability with 2 different modes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and since this has 1 mode, its not bimodal do we know what this would look like if it is to match a normal distribution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, in a "normal" distribution; all the values presented would be the same .... so we can rule that one out too

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if i recall correctly; a skew indicates that the mean is to the left (smaller), or right (bigger) of the median

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so, mean = 56 median = 58 since 56 < 58 .... my best educated guess is that is skewed to the left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
