@e.mccormick @amistre64 @ganeshie8 @Jhannybean @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

from the picture, what do you think about EC, is EC = AE or is it bigger or smaller?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its half

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, you have rhombus, and in a rhombus the diagonals bisect each in half so AE = EC so if AE = 3x -7, then EC = 3x-7 AC = AE + EC we know AC = 28 so 28 = AE + EC 28 = (3x-7) + (3x-7) so if you solve for "x", what would that give you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

28

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

28?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk im confused

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Expand the right hand aside of the equation

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Side*

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, you'd just need to factor 28 = (3x-7) + (3x-7) cancel out like-terms and solve for "x"

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

What are you canceling out? You get 28 = 6 x -14 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused ?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, nothing really, but anyhow, that

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

divagirl421 if you dunno how to factor, I'd suggest you may want to check those chapters first, and I'd think this exercises doesn't apply to you

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Just isolate your xs on one aside and your constants on the other. This means adding +14 to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean you guys are confusing me with how to do it @jdoe0001 is saying one thing and @Jhannybean is saying something else

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Ok did you understand his first post? @divagirl421

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand what you said

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

there's no issue between what Jhannybean is saying and myself, he's just pointing out a technicality, is all

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

I'm expanding on his explanation. Working off a phone atm so its kind of hard to wrote out equations.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

She* -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

42=6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is whats left

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

but bear in mind we're assuming you do know how to factor, sadly I see some folks here often times just "doing it for others" and thus people dunno later on skipping this or that material it'll simply won't help

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

And what so you get when you divide 42 by 6? Think of your 6 table

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um @jdoe0001 you need to apologize for calling her a guy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

42 = 6x, yes, now just diviide each side by 6

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Good job.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

heheh, alright, didn't know ma'am :)
