@reemii

OpenStudy (reemii):

\((r,\alpha)\) represents the point \((x,y)\) where \(x=r\cos \alpha\) and \(y=r\sin\alpha\). (by definition of polar coordinates)

OpenStudy (reemii):

ah yes, usually \(r\ge 0\), but that might just mean, use \(r=4\) and aferwards multiply it by -1.

OpenStudy (phi):

you can can change -4 to +4. but this changes the angle by 180º (pi radians) so change -4, 7pi/6 to +4, 7pi/6 - 6 pi/6 or 4, pi/6

OpenStudy (loser66):

what if we don't change anything, just let them there and apply reemii formula, the results are same. x = r cos theta = -4 cos 7pi/6 = 2sqrt(3) the same.

OpenStudy (loser66):

thanks for medal, reemii.
