can you help with the steps?? i'm trying to figure it out for my entrance exam..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multipoly both sides by 15 to get out of denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that leves you with 18x+15x=6*15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simpllified that is 33x=90 which is 30/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait.. but how do you get the 15x on the top?? sorry.. ive been out of math for a year and a half and I just don't understand everything like I did before..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because when you multiply the tope by (15)18x/15+x the fiftenn cancels in the first term but will be multiplied by the second term the x

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

18x/15+x=6 generally means \(\dfrac{18x}{15} + x = 6\) If you mean \(\dfrac{18x}{15+x} = 6\), you must use better grouping symbols. Perhaps 18x/(15+x) = 6
