Just a quick question... I am currently self-studying real analysis toward a degree here in south africa and was wondering if it is recommended to do Multivariable calculus simultaneously with the real analysis. Any thoughts - would it be too difficult or confusing or too much of a mixture of maths?

Multivariable calculus is needed to properly understand real analysis. Otherwise, you are guaranteed to get stuck if you dont have a very solid grasp of multivariable calculus. It'd be extremely useful to have some linear algebra background in there also. Without those two--generally considered pre-reqs for even sitting in any real analysis class--it'd be very difficult to properly grasp real analysis.

Sure thing..I'd at least recommend trying to get through the first half of this course at least, before moving forward with real analysis...it'll definitely be a lot easier with at least multivariable differentiation/basic integration under your belt! At most, should only take a week to get through the whole of the MIT OCW for multivariable..Best of luck with all of that!
