Find X: 14=9/5X+32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"cross multiply" and start with \[14(5x+32)=9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (souvik):

by multiplying both sides with (5x+32)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[a=\frac{b}{c}\iff ac=b\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so \[14=\frac{9}{5x+32}\iff 14(5x+32)=9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh maybe it was \[14=\frac{9}{5}x+32\] was that the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it is \[14=\frac{9}{5}x+32\] then 1) subtract 32 from both sides 2) multiply both sides by \(\frac{5}{9}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you. It was the second one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok good you got it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After subtracting 32, multiply both sides by 9/5?
