What is nucleoside?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nucleosides have 2 parts: 1. A nitrogenous base 2. A sugar. Either ribose, or deoxyribose. Those two parts are attached to one another.

Nucleosides are the form of nucleotides?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

You can say that... just remove the phosphate groups.

OpenStudy (frostbite):

A good known example would be to take Adenosine (a nucleoside). Add 3 phosphate groups and we get ATP a nucleotide.

They're almost the same thing. There's one difference. Here's a picture of a NUCLEOTIDE: http://www.biologyjunction.com/images/nucleotide1.jpg You see how it has THREE parts? 1. Nitrogen base 2. Sugar 3. Phosphase group That's a NUCLEOTIDE. A nucleoside only has two of those parts: 1. Nitrogen base 2. Sugar
