Explain whether the polynomials below are written in standard form. If not, use complete sentences to explain how to write the polynomial in standard form. (2 points each) 1. 3a^3b – 4ab^2 + a^2 2. 2. –8x^2y^2 + 10xy^4 – 6x^2y My answers: I think they are all written in standard form, but I may be wrong. lol can I get anyone to help!?

@whpalmer4

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Standard form of a polynomial is when the powers are going from highest number to lowest number.

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Take another look at your second one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one is:10xy^4 +–8x^2y^2 – 6x^2y right?

@marissalovescats

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Im pretty sure. But I'll have @jim_thompson5910 double check. He's way smarter than me XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright! :) thanks! @marissalovescats

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the degree of \( 10xy^4\) is 5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

everything looks good yasminalli101 the first one stays the same at 3a^3b – 4ab^2 + a^2 the second one gets re-written to 10xy^4 –8x^2y^2 – 6x^2y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 & @marissalovescats thank you both!!
