Change to degrees, minutes, and seconds

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

I know how to do this what are the numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

95.61

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Pre Calc question? :P

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Well your 1st number is always going to be your degrees. So your answer is going to start with 95 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a lot of my answer choices are 95 how to solve it

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Then you take your decimal part of .61 and times that by 60 0.61(60) can you tell me what I get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

36.6

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Okay now the number 36 is going to be your minutes. So so far we have 95 degrees, 36 minutes. Then you take the decimal part of that number so 0.6 and times that by 60 also. So what is 0.6(60) ?

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So 0.6(60 is 36. And there is your seconds. Now sometimes you will get a number at the end lets say is 48.9 you would just keep the 49 as your seconds and leave off the .9. Does that make sense? I can show you another example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it make sense.!

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

So your answer for this one is 95degrees,36min,36 seconds

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

Yay great! Do you know how to go from degrees, minutes, seconds to a decimal???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no but I need help on another one , it says find the least positive angel measurement that is coterminal with -20

OpenStudy (marissalovescats):

I'm not sure how to do that I'm sorry. But I can teach you to go from DMS to decimal if you'd like.
