Anyone good at eliminating parameters?
x = t2 + 3, y = t2 - 2
Take the first equation and solve for t^2 (by subtracting 3 from both sides). Take that expression for t^2 and put that into equation #2. You'll end up with an equation in slope-intercept form, which is what you want here.
All good now, @crazyheart08 ?
could you write out what your talking about so i can see it? cause right now im still confused
Try subtracting 3 from both sides of equation #1. Write that out here in Openstudy.
x=t^2,y=t^2-5
? @tcarroll010
Just concentrate on equation #1 for now. Forget about equation #2. As for equation #1, it looks like you subtracted 3 from the right side but not from the left. You have to subtract 3 from both sides to preserve the equality. Now, give it another go. And just equation #1.
oh sorry i was confused.. x=t^2+3 -3 -3 x-3=t^2
Good! You now have an expression for t^2 which is the left side of your equation, and that is "x - 3". You take that "x - 3" and you put that into equation #2 where you see t^2 there.
oh okay :) y=x-3-2 y=x-5
Good job! You got it!
thats it ? :D
Yep! That's all there is to it!
Thank you so much!! i get it now :)
uw! Good luck to you in all of your studies and thx for the recognition! @crazyheart08
