how do you work out something like Tan 21°44'? how the heck do you plug this into the calculator i swear i've tried every single freaking way

you have to convert \(44'\) in to a decimal to use your calculator

evidently you are working in degrees, so put your calculator in degree mode and enter \[\tan(21.7333)\]

yeah, hold over from old babylonian base sixty same reason we have 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute etc
