1. Explain, using complete sentences, how you know these triangles are congruent. These are my ordered pairs I chose. triangle ABC, A(0,1) B(3,1) C(3,5) and triangle XYZ, X(-5,0) Y(-1,0) Z(-5,3) 2. Explain, using complete sentences, how you know these triangles are similar. triangle ABC, A(0,0) B(0,2) C(1,2) and triangle XYZ, X(3,0) Y(0,4) Z(5,4) 3. Explain, using complete sentences, how you know these triangles have no relationship. triangle ABC, A(-2,0) B(-3,2) C(-1,1) and triangle XYZ, X(1,2) Y(3,4) Z(0,3) I'm not sure what to do. If you can help me solve it, that'd be nice.

You should first plot the points on the graph and draw the triangles of each question. Do you know what congruent and similar figures are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I plotted the first questions triangles. Triangles that are congruent, are any two triangles with the same measurements. . Similar triangles are triangles that have the same proportions. Meaning they should have the same angle measures, (AAA) ,but can have different, but proportional, side lengths.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so with that information, look at the triangles and determine if they are congruent similar or have no connection. "the two triangles are congruent because they have the same measurements"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks congruent. Just turned on it's side. But the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then for the answer., explain how you know that, like the example i gave

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No math or anything done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to be precise you can put the proportion of the similar figures and measure exactly the congruent figures and support your answer by the measurements of the figures that have no connection. but It doesnt say so. but if you want to be sure you could do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm still confused on how I'd do it. Can you give me an idea on what to say?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's say you are answering number one and you say "The triangles are congruent because all the angles equal 60 degrees" or in the similar "the triangles are similarbecause the angles are not the same, the proportion is 2/4 = 1/2 " Do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ok. So much clearer. Thanks a bunch! :D

no prob
