Vector help??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just dont understand where they get what w1 is equal to from u= 1+3j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its at the bottom where they define what w1 and w2 are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@primeralph help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SithsAndGiggles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@FutureMathProfessor

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Yeah. but what am I meant to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you see at the bottom where they're determining what w and w2 are, yeah well where do they get that from?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

It's right there at the bottom. w1 = 2i + j w2 = -i + j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im saying how do they calculate that im trying to understand, they're saying that u=i+3j and then w1+w2=u so how did they get w1 in the first place? how do they know its 2(i+j)?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

In the diagram; upper right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is u replacing F in this case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@primeralph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this seems hard

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@doulikepiecauseidont I think they chose chose an arbitrary value for u.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Then everything else was derived from that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea thats what im getting at, so how do they get w1 if i get that then ik how to get w2 but i just dont get how to get w1, do you know how they got that?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Of course, Imma draw it.
