Please help solve this problem 2x/(x+6)(x-5)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

what needs to be done in this question. If its an equation you have left out part of the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you please tell me what is the domain of this function in interval notation

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the domain... ok look at the denominator, what values would make the denominator zero..? so you need to solve x + 6 = 0 and x - 5 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to be honest I am not sure...

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... so the denominator in this question cannot be zero. the values of x that would make it zero are x = -6 and x = 5 the reason is a zero denominator is undefined. so they are the values you can't put into the expression. but you can put any other values into the equation so in interval notation there are 3 parts so the domain is all all real x, \[x \ne -6, .. x \ne 5\]
