Choose the equation of the line passing through the point (2, 6) and parallel to y = -3x - 4. a. y = 3x - 12 b. y = -3x c. y = -3x + 12 d. y = 3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it is parallel has same slope y=-3x+C now just sub (2,6) into the equation to find c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the first part is -3 because it shares the same slope but i keep getting confused on the next part, where do you plug in the (2,6) and what do i do with them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=2 y=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so since y=-3x+c 6=-3(2)+c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what will your answer be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = -3x + 12
