Chain Rule: f(x)=sqrt(x), g(x)=(cos)x what is f(g(x)) and g(f(x)). no need to find the derivative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldn't it be just sqrt(cos)x? for f(g(x))?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about g(f(x))?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you basically substitute the function in for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for that one it should be\[g(f(x))=\cos (\sqrt{x})\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thanks!
