Yes, first find the LCM for 3/5 and 1/4. What is the the LCM of 3/5 and 1/4 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/20 and 1/20?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 is correct. Now times each side by 20 like so \( 20(-\frac{3}{5}x) = 20(\frac{1}{4})\) Can you finish that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it'll be -60/100 20/80?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\( 20(-\frac{3}{5}x) = 20(\frac{1}{4})\) -12x = 5 -12x/-12 = 5/-12 \( x = -\frac{5}{12}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be -5/12 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah , thank you ! , you've gotten another fan today! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YW :-)
