Does anybody know Japanese because i need to know if im pronouncing everything right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have any other questions about Japanese, try posting in the Language and Culture section. Where do you need help?

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

do you speak japanese

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You sent me this phrase: あなたは日本語を話せないのですか Let me break it down into different words, to make it more simple: あなた は 日本語 を 話せない の です か ------------------- Now, let's pronounce each word separately. I'll show you how to pronounce each word, in parentheses. あなた (ah-nah-ta) は (wa) --- This is the hiragana symbol for (ha), but in this sentence, we need to say (wa). 日本語 (ni-hon-goh) を (oh) 話せない (ha-nah-seh-nai) の (noh) です (des) か (kah)

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

thx

どういたしまして Remember this: Japanese people pronounce their O's like short O's. NOT long O's. Like with this symbol: を Remember to say "oh" like the letter O is short. Not long.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The same rule goes for all of their vowels, actually.

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

thank you for help me i am learning the language beacuse im going on a family trip to japan before summer ends

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You've just started right? Good luck.

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

i am like half way done with the language i conversate with my dad every day at lunch he makes me speak in japanese every time we talk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh alright, that sounds like good practice. Here's an entire hiragana chart, with pronunciations in parentheses: http://japanese.about.com/library/blhiraganaaudio.htm Again, vowels are short. You can print this chart, or even better, write it down, and look back on it whenever you want.

OpenStudy (goldeverything):

thx if you mind could we conversate some time in chat to see if i type everything right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would love to. But that might be a problem for two reasons: 1. I haven't taken a Japanese class in like 4 years. I'm very rusty and I've forgotten much of what I've learned. 2. I have no idea how to get my computer to type in Japanese. What I do is I go onto Google Translate, since it has a hiragana program. I type out my hiragana there, and then copy & paste it onto another page. It works, but it's pretty tedious and time consuming, you know? So I am sorry, I wish I could help you. But you honestly might find yourself better off without me. I CAN still read and understand basic Japanese, if anything.
