Welcome to OpenStudy, @deanna16! Actually, it's not B. To answer this question, think about the cell cycle. Mitosis is a PART of the cell cycle -- the part where the cell divides. DURING mitosis the cell goes through prophase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis. Those are the steps that it has to take in order to divide. But mitosis is actually only 1 PART of the cell cycle. The rest of the cell cycle helps to regulate and ready the cell so that by the time it gets to mitosis, it is able to divide the right way. INTERPHASE is part of that whole process -- it's part of the cell cycle, and it helps the cell get ready for mitosis, but it's NOT actually part of mitosis.
