Please help, i will award medals. Question is below.
@bahrom7893
Ok Sin45 = 7/x x=7/(Sin45) Tan45 = 7/y y=7/Tan(45)
wouldnt you use hypotenuse =√2 * leg?
can you help me with that way? hypotenuse =√2 * leg?
bahrom?
@uri
@Mertsj
Yes, that equation, as well as the trigonometric solution, should both work out and give you the same result. Since the sum of the angles of a triangle is always 180, you know the missing angle is 45. So y=7 since it is opposite a 45 degree angle, it must be equal to the other side opposite the same angle. Now that you have the two legs, you know that in a 45-45-90 triangle the hypotenuse is rad2 times the leg (you can also use the Pythagorean Theorem. You'll get the same result)
That is an isosceles right triangle. In these cases, the legs are congruent, and the hypotenuse is the leg multiplied by the square root of 2.
So in this particular problem: \[y=7 \] \[x=7\sqrt{2}=7(1.414)=9.9\]
yes.
ok.
so its 9.9?
@Mertsj ?
\[x=7\sqrt{2}=7(1.414)=9.9\]
i am so confused.
What are you confused about?
the answer, is it x = 7√2 = 7(1.414) = 9.9? or is it 9.9
Do you notice the equal signs between those numbers?
mertsj, im not very smart. and yes i do.
What do those equal signs mean?
it means their the same? but what is the same? 7√2 = 7(1.414) and 9.9?
Yes. those numbers are the same number but they are in different forms. What form does your problem say you should use?
radical form.
so the answer is 7√2 = 7(1.414)
I guess I'm having trouble reading because I thought it said "write your answers as integers or decimals rounded to the nearest tenth."
oh poop, wrong problem.
ty.
