Find the values of a and b so that f is differentiable everywhere.

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, can you find atleast one equation in a and b ? lim x-> 1- f(x)= lim x->1+ f(x) for f to be differentiable

hartnn (hartnn):

the other equation in a and b, you will get from lim x-> 1- f'(x)= lim x->1+ f'(x) for f to be differentiable everywhere so, just differentiate both sides and again take left and right limits, equate them to get 2nd equation in a and b 2 equation, 2 unknowns, easily solvable then.

A = 1/2 and B = -1?

hartnn (hartnn):

i haven't calculated yet, i have ice cream on other hand :D give me some time to verify :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No need, I checked the book, it's good! :)

Thanks a lot!
