As the names suggest, light cycle involves sunlight or light source, and the dark cycle (more known as the Calvin cycle) is a synthesis, which progresses without the need of light. First part takes up the "photo," and the second part is the "synthesis" portion. This equation is deceptively short, but the processes involve a lot.
