I need help. We are doing math that we really have not covered in our class. I am lost on this problem. . "Find the vertex of the parabola. y = -2x2 + 12x - 13"

OpenStudy (psymon):

The formula for a vertex is -b/2a. This will give you the x-coordinate. So if you did -b/2a, you would get -12/-4 = 3. So to get the y-coordinate, use x = 3 and solve for y. So you would have -2(3)^2 + 12(3) - 13 = 5. So the coordinates would be (3,5)

Hi Psymon, thank you for the help. I will compare this to my notes and see if the lightbulb will go off for me in my head. :-)

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yeah, np. Good luck :3

thank you Psymon
