The following are examples of different types of variables. Which are continuous variables? Check all that apply. A. Number of votes for a candidate B. Telephone number C. Temperature of a hot pizza D. Speed of a race car E. Weight of an elephant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C D and E are continues

OpenStudy (anonymous):

only C & D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so again sorry what is exactly a continuous variable?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't D discrete because u cant have HALF OF A VOTE?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C D E , that's a variable you could assign all kind's of number for i mean it contain fractions too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think ur right though...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D is speed of a racer as you 've written

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with E though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a car could have 120 km/h or 121.1 km/h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

continuous data can be WEIGHT so A could be an option right??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops sorry!!! I have a different options list.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im SO SORRY.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with u!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is number of vote , how could you have half of vote ? I guess your book differ from what you wrote here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind , do you get it? I guess you do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. one more question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ask dear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as I remember i should be E

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no other options? and what do u mean as u remember?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i,m senior in university I've read these stuff 3-4 years ago

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want density curve of continues , so there should be no step in the graph . that is my reason

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok. & so for continuous density curve NO STEPS? ok ill try to remember that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as i remember this is a must condition,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@music101 here is 12:35 am, If there is no question I wish to go to bed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh im sorry. real quick though, what abt A & D??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I should check it, Im not sure. you know i don't want to mislead you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea I know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well I need help but I don't wanna keep u any longer. thank u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take a look at this, the total amount should be 1 . but because you have continues variable the number should have chance to occur. mostly the continues variable density curve doesn't contain steps . because step happens when a number happens for a certain amount. but still I strongly recommend you to check it to be sure. wish you luuk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea A AND D equal 1 that's why I asked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okk thnks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check it too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bye for now
