HELP:EXAM tomorrow!!! in a given city, 4% of all licensed drivers will be involved in at least one car accident in a given year. Use the Poisson approximation to the binomial distribution to determine the probability that among 150 licensed drivers randomly chosen in this city, only five will be involved in at least one accident in any given year. Also find the probability that exactly one accident will occur in a two month period. Can someone help me with the second part please :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the poison looks something like this right? \[Poison:\frac{u^x~e^u}{x!}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is the probability of event (X=x)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

e^-u slight typo

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x denotes a time period; u represents the mean or average of a unit time period since its "exactly" one, then we dont need to add up alot of scenarios
