Which of the following describes the domain of y = sec x, where n is any integer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. x ≠ 2nπ B. x ≠ nπ C. x ≠ (π/2) + nπ D. x ≠ (nπ)/2

hartnn (hartnn):

so, when does sec x yield a number with a 0 in the denominator ? that angle will be excluded from the domain...

hartnn (hartnn):

or in other words, since cos x = 1/ sec x, when will cos x = 0 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C. x ≠ (π/2) + nπ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right? Or am I missing something...

hartnn (hartnn):

if you are unsure, plug in n=1,2,3....to see whether those angles make cos x= 0 or sec x = something/0 ...

hartnn (hartnn):

to save your time, let me tell you that you are correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HA! Okay, thanks... AGAIN!

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ...AGAIN! ^_^
