medal awarded!! I'm between A and D, help? In which way did ancient Rome influence and unify medieval Europe? a. Medieval guilds were inspired by Roman ones. b. Latin endured as the language of everyday life. c. Roman slavery was a model for feudalism. d. Rome continued as the center of the Church
The center of the church was once changed in two different places, right? that's why im confused :P
Huh. Medieval guilds were inspired by Roman ones. This isn't true, look at the structure of European guilds. It's very different than the roman guilds. So A is out. Latin endured as the language of everyday life. False, Latin became less and less used. Just look at history, remember the big fuss when the bible was translated from Latin to other languages? So B is out. This leaves C and D. Both are possible, so it leaves a hard choice. Roman slavery was a model for feudalism, possible but I've never heard of this so unless you have I can't help you here. Rome continued as the center of the Church, this is somewhat true and somewhat wrong. "The promise of a unified Christian Europe was short-lived, however, as Frankish lords quarreled over territory and the kingdom was divided among Charlemagne's descendants. (The Holy Roman Empire survived as an anomalous political presence until 1806, famously described by Voltaire as "neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.") Similarly, the unity of the Church was decisively severed in 1054 with the Great Schism between the Eastern Orthodox and Western (Roman) Church over doctrinal disputes and issues of ecclesiastical authority."
