http://tinypic.com/r/zumj53/5 In the following triangle, find the values of the angles B and B', which are the best approximations to the solutions of this ambiguous case. A. B = 70.05 or B' = 109.95 B. B = 65 or B' = 115 C. B = 56.2 or B' = 123.8 D. B = 67 or B' = 102.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so... I have no idea how to do ambiguous cases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait. thats the wrong one!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://tinypic.com/r/qrc5cx/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am totally confused you have two angles, which means you know the third for sure there is nothing ambiguous about it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ambiguous is where you know two sides and one angle then there could be an acute or obtuse triangle, depending

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was looking at the wrong graph! I'm good now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lol find B using law 'o sines, then B'= 180 - B you good right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me try this out...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thinking! 23.95 and ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

156.05! But they aren't choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess i should see what i get if i am to check it give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The choices are in the 50s to 70s?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me try again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{\sin(45)}{16.5}=\frac{\sin(B)}{22}\iff\frac{ 22\sin(45)}{16.5}=B\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops i mean \[\frac{22\sin(45)}{16.5}=\sin(B)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and so \(B\) is the arcsine of all that mess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets try it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't reverse sine on the calculator. So i'm kinda stuck?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get \(70.53\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol of course you can!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean if you are on a computer you can http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=arcsin%2822sin%2845%29%2F16.5%29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH! Wolfram. Gotcha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant remember the last time i used a calculator maybe to find a percent or something, certainly not for this kind of work so twentieth century

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The closet to 70.53 is A... LOLZ! I've used wolfram before, but I forgot the same. Its so good!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, you probably didn't even have to write what i wrote to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOAH! You're already at 100! jealous.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

already lol only been a few years and countless hours
