General question: What is the acid dissociation constant? how do you find it and solve it? And what is the acid concentration? How do you solve for that?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

it's the same thing as an equilibrium constant, but it's applied to acid dissociation, i.e. HA <-> H^+ + A^-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is HA?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

a general formula for an acid, e.g. HCl, HNO3, HI

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still don't get it @aaronq how would you solve for it?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the same way, Ka=[prod]/[reactants]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HA just stands for the acid that you start out with before dissolving it.
