Help me in Understanding Ionic compund & Covelent compund ,.what is the different

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

inonic bonds are formed by the transfer of electron and there is electrostatic attraction between the ions for example Na loses its one electron completely nd get converted to Na+ and that of Cl takes that Electron and becomes Cl- now Na+ is +vely charged and Cl is -vely charged due oppsite polaity they held by electrostatic force of attraction ionic bonds are formed by the metals and nonmetals more oftenly here Na is metal and Cl is nonmetal

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

where as covalent bonds are formed by sharing of electrons for example Cl2|dw:1376631040342:dw| where each cl share there valence electrons and get stabilized by the octet rule and covalent bond is formed usually between two nonmetals most of the time
