Hi can someone please help me with this question: Draw the energy-level diagram and write the electronic configuration for zirconium (element 40). Use the diagram to explain why the Zr4+ ion exists. Compare the stability of the Zr atom and the Zr ion. Account for any differences in their stability

OpenStudy (aaronq):

what exactly are you having problems with?

OpenStudy (alienium):

if you know spdf then just draw the plot or a Ratherford version of the atom of Zr do the same with Zr4+ the difference is that the Zr 4+ a 40 element and as such he has enough of 8 electrones and 4 of those are not needed as are extra. so it gives 4 away to keep up the good 8s that's why it exists stability of Zr4+ id higher for the formentioned reason

OpenStudy (aaronq):

"...he has..." are you anthropomorphizing particles? :P

OpenStudy (alienium):

lol :p sorry... in my language we referr to THE atom as he so... :p

OpenStudy (aaronq):

lol no worries. I'm assuming you speak spanish because you also wrote "electrones", am i wrong? lol
