slope help please!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that the right column is not the y intercept. how do i find it?

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

yes you figured it out right j(x) is actually the y coordinate so from now i`ll call j(x) as y so general equation is y = mx + c where c is the y intercept now put the values given in the table and find the value of c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the slope?

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

sorry , i didn`t read it properly you need to find out slope which is m, so find m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure that j(x) is y? i feel like there's more to that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is function related

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

yes you generally put it in function notation this way f(x) = x + 5 but actually when you plot the value which is f(x) is the y coordinate so it`s totally up to you you can write j(x) or y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, okay. So i can just use y2-y1/x2-x1 right?

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

yes that is why i related this to y coordinate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm. okay. so would it be 3?

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

yes!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you so much. :)

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

welcome!!
