Is f(x) = x^3y^4 + 3.14x^5 - the square root of 7 a valid polynomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you please explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any sum of x^n where n is defined. btw sqrt(x) = x^(1/2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case, since you wrote f(x) and not f(x,y) , were assuming y is just any number and not a variable. misread. sqrt7 is sqrt7*(x^0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would it be a fifth degree trinomial or binomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trinomial since the constant can be seen as sqrt7 * x^0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^0 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alrighty. I get it thank you again you're pretty awesome :D

glad i could help :)
