What were some effects of the printing press? How did they affect the spread of ideas?
Okay I am going to try to explain this, tell me if you don't understand. What were some effects of the printing press? How did they affect the spread of ideas? Some effects of the printing press were ideas, because the printing press allowed quick publication in huge mass loads people could now buy books that in originally cost a fortune for way less which allowed people to obtain ideas and knowledge much easier. It also allowed people to quickly share news which in terms made things a lot easier for towns people. Not to mention religion took a major part, in Europe (1543) the Christian church forbid printing of things that they did not approve of, such as scientific finding, due to this printers began using ciphers in the printing to pass messages along eventually since the church forbid the printing of so many things printers began to revolt at night they would print pamphlets to pass the word of revolt against the church, this ended up to back fire on the printers and they were all publicly executed this did not discourage anyone, in fact people began to have letters printed and nailed into the doors of the church saying that the church was asking for bribes to relive them of their sins. As you can imagine this caused issues all around people stopped going to church which made the church less powerful. After awhile the church lifted the law of them having to approve printings. This caused people to calm down, but it wasn't long before the printing press was used to start another revolt.
If there are any spelling or grammar mistakes, sorry. I am a bit tired and didn't read over it. Welcome to OpenStudy. Enjoy your stay.
@Opcode It was actually the Catholic Church, not the Christian. When the invention of the printing press began, Martin Luther (along with other writers who were considered "rebellious" against the Catholic church) decided to release their writings to share with Europe which were later added to a list of forbidden books Catholics were not allowed to read. The printing press had a major part in the conflict of Martin Luther and the Catholics. I know you are probably thinking who cares, what's the difference between Catholicism and Christianity.. And the reason why I made it a point to say " it's the Catholic Church, not Christian" is because, if it weren't for Martin Luther leaving the catholic church and standing up against them there wouldn't be a Lutheran church.. which would of led to the uprising of Christianity. Other than that you pretty much nailed everything Opcode. Good job. :) I would write more but Opcode covered a lot. Hopefully this all helped @alma41312
@happinessbreaksbones Is correct, I never learned in detail about this event, although I just know bits. In my book it is called the Christian church, and it does mention Martin Luther leaving but it doesn't tell me much about that. So thanks @happinessbreaksbones :-). @happinessbreaksbones Welcome to OpenStudy. Enjoy your stay.
