Matthew has 10 more than twice dollars than tony together they have 47 dollars how much money does each of them have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lets say Matthew already has the 10 dollars and that they need to share the remaining 37 dollars

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you would divide 37 by 2 and that would give the amount tony has

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then add 10 dollars to give the amount that Matthew would have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[37\div2=$18.50\] is what tony has

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So Tony has $18.50 and Matthew has $28.50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but when you add $28.50 & 18.50 the total is $47 they don't check out to be $37

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would that work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The $37 was the remaining money after Matthew already had $10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nevermind I accidently confused the total...that was a my bad, but thank you I understood it now. (:
