how do you type cosine theta in calculator

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

first type theta, then press cos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where is theta

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you dont have value for theta is it.. you want to see the graph of cosine ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you said type theta first

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

if you have theta = 30, type 30 first

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

and then press cos, i meant that

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

if you want graph, just type below in desmos :- y=cos(theta)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cos(theta) = 96/114

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ohk ! to solve that, you must take inverse cos

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

cos(theta) = 96/114 take cos inverse both sides theta = cos^-1 96/114

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

do u knw how to take cos^-1 in your calculator ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is not coming out 32.9

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

im getting 32.64

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=inversecos%2896%2F114%29 look at degrees above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didnt have calculator in degrees. thank you

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

ohh i do that silly mistake always lol.. .:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that mean I only need to be in radians if I'm converting to radians.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

actually it doesnt matter wat mode we put the answer in as long as we're clear. When the question doesn't say about units, always put it in degrees - default is accepted as degrees by many folks.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

32.64 degrees is same as 0.57 radians

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thanx.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so... we're fine when we specify the units explicitly. when the question doesnt bother about degrees/radians, always put the answer in degrees, cuz thats the most accepted form (default)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're wlcme :)
