Find the domain???? in interval notation 7x-2/(x+7)(x-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where is this function undefined ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure, it just says to find the domain in he rational expression and answer in interval notation. It's from my pre-cacl class if that helps anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so a function is undefined when the denominator is 0. Looking at this rational expression its undefined when x=-7 or x=5. right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I understand that part. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so your domain is everything except those parts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh okay okay, I understand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in interval notation you use parenthesis to show not included and hard brackets to show included and u to basically connect them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be (-infinity,-7) U (-7,2) U (-2,infinity)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 not 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay! Thank you sooo much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem :)
