-6<2x-4<12 How do I solve this compound inequality?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't. They didn't go over this one in the lesson.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you can have it : -6<2x-4<12/2 but remeber all of the < s should be was > . OK ?! Now do it :!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we have -3<x-4<6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now we can have : -3+4<x-4+4<6+4 so we have : 1<x<10 Understand ?!

sam (.sam.):

Careful @E.ali

sam (.sam.):

-6<2x-4<12 First add 4 to all sides -6+4<2x-4+4<12+4 You get -2<2x<16 Then divide 2 to isolate x, you get -1<x<8 Do you understand it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah, yes! I knew something wasn't right. Thank you so much!
