Consider the following food chain: Plants are eaten by grasshoppers, which are eaten by mice, which are eaten by snakes. What will happen to snakes in the long term if mice become extinct?

maybe they would adapt and their prey would be different which is easily available to them in their niche.

i think its a mixture of b and c. they would reduce in number but not permanently. and they would not die out completely.
