A certain type of Swiss chocolate comes in a package that's the shape of a triangular prism. If the perimeter of one of the triangular bases is 16 centimeters, what is the surface area of the entire package?

First find the sides of the bases, using Pythgoras's theorem: x^2 = 4^2 + (6/2)^2, so x = 5 (both sides) Now, you have two bases, which are triangles with sides 5, 5 and 6. which gives an area of 2 * (4*6). No for the areas of rectangles - prism sides. two are 5*14 and one is 6*14. The area, thus is 2*(4*6) + 2*(5*14) + 6*14 = 48 + 140+ 84 = 272
