-(3x+5)<=-13

OpenStudy (austinl):

\(-(3x+5)\le-13\) First we would want to distribute the negative. \(-3x-5\le-13\) Then we would want to add 5 to both sides. \(5+(-3x-5)\le(-13)+5\) \(-3x\le-8\) Then we would divide by negative 3. \(\large{\color{red}{\text{NOTE: When you multiply or divide by a negative,}}}\) \(\large{\color{red}{\text{you flip the inequality symbol.}}}\) \(x\ge\dfrac{8}{3}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is \[\frac{ -8 }{ -3 }\]

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

right, but when you have two sides of the fraction as negatives, the whole fraction becomes positive :)

OpenStudy (austinl):

\(\dfrac{-8}{-3}=\dfrac{8}{3}\) \(\dfrac{\cancel{-}8}{\cancel{-}3}=\dfrac{8}{3}\)

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

@danielbarrios do you understand? b/c if you don't we can explain it to you again

OpenStudy (anonymous):
