y-y1=m(x-x1)+b and you are given a value for m = -5; x=2; y=-1 then (and to be honest I don't know how the book would have you solve it) from the point (2,-1) if your next x is 3 the next y is -1 plus the slope (-5) so you have (3, -6) that you can use for x1,y1
