some please explain how to graph y=|-2x| and y=|0.5x|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its going to look like a sharp corner.... if you look at the link you can see y=|-2x| http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=+y%3D%7C-2x%7C+ where (0,0) is where the sharp corner. Absolute value means that the output will always be positive and if you look at the link you can see that the line never goes bellow the x axis where it is negative. For the second one I say the sharp corner is the same at (0,0)

OpenStudy (loser66):

do you know how to graph y = -2x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rise over run -2 over 1 for every one unit to the right, you move two down and plot a point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In this case moving through the slope will confuse you mode. Try to make a table instead with the inputs and outputs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do a table for y = -2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the values x=-1, x=0, x=1 and find the y values for each x.
