OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the solution to the system of equations that contains −3x + y = 3 and 2x − y = −1? no solution (−1, 3) infinite number of solutions (−2, −3)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

add the equations to eliminate y. then solve for x substitute x into either equation to find y

OpenStudy (austinl):

\(-3x+y=3\) \(2x-y=-1\) You would then add them together. \(-3x+\cancel{y}=3\) \(2x-\cancel{y}=-1\) \(-x=2\rightarrow x=-2\) You can then plug in that in one of the original equations.
